Drive to Success

Drive to Success

The Odessa College Drive to Success program is led by the Office of Student Life and is the ultimate incentive program. Drive to Success is designed to encourage student engagement by giving OC students the opportunity to earn prizes throughout the academic year, for participating on campus in ways that are proven to increase overall success in college.

Drive to Success is open to all Odessa College students, regardless of modality, who are enrolled at least half-time (6 credit hours or more) in the current semester. Additionally, to be eligible for the Drive to Success program, students must be in good academic standing with a minimum 2.0 cumulative GPA, and no major disciplinary violations. All students who are enrolled in at least 6 credit hours are automatically included in the program, with points awarded based on the number of credit hours taken in the current semester. Points are earned in multiple ways, including enrolling in classes and signing in with Drive to Success at campus events.

Points are awarded as follows:

  • Enrollment – ½ point/credit hour (rounded up to the next whole point, minimum 6 credit hours)
  • Attending academic, service, career development, or other success-related events and programs on campus – 2+ points/event
  • Active participation or exceptional progress in classes – 2 points/class/semester (with instructor recommendation)
  • Use of Student Success Center/tutoring services –2 points/visit
  • Attending Student Activities on-campus events – 2+ points/event
  • Attendance at campus events after 5:00pm on and on the weekends - 5 points
  • On-campus employment – 2 points/semester (with supervisor recommendation)
  • Attendance for Registered Student Organization and RSO Officer meetings - 5 points/meeting
  • Active involvement in registered student organizations, intramural sports, or athletic teams – 2+ points/semester (with advisor/coach recommendation)
  • Participation in Keith Career & Transfer Center events – 2+ points/event

Some events are considered “double down” opportunities, where students can recieve 10 points for their attendance. These events are campus-wide and significant to the Odessa College community. Consideration for your event to be considered a “double down” opportunity must be approved through the Office of Student Life.

Each year in the spring, seven eligible students, drawn at random, participate in the Drive to Success Grand Finale which culminates with one of the seven students winning the grand prize of a new Ford Mustang, courtesy of Sewell Ford.
