An Introductory overview of the automotive service industry including history, safety practices, shop equipment and tools, vehicle subsystems, service pubications, professional responsibilities, and automobile maintenance. Students will explain the history of the automobile and career possibilities of the automobile industry; describe safe, professional, and responsible work practices; describe proper use of shop tools and equipment; list the eight Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) vehicle subsystems; explain the use of service publications; and, identify basic automotive procedures.
