Drive to Success

Drive to Success

The Odessa College Drive to Success program is led by the Student Life department and is the ultimate incentive program. Drive to Success was created to encourage student engagement by giving students the opportunity to earn prizes for doing things that are proven to increase overall success in college. Drive to Success is open to all Odessa College students, regardless of modality, who are enrolled at least half-time (6 credit hours or more) in the current semester. To be eligible for prizes, students must be in good academic standing with a minimum 2.0 cumulative GPA, and no major disciplinary violations. All students who are enrolled in at least 6 credit hours are automatically included in the program, with points awarded based on the number of credit hours taken in the current semester. Points are earned through enrollment or by signing in with Drive to Success at campus events. Points are awarded as follows:

  • Enrollment – ½ point/credit hour (rounded up to the next whole point, minimum 6 credit hours)
  • Attending academic, service, career development, or other success-related events and programs on campus – 2+ points/event
  • Active participation or exceptional progress in classes – 2 points/class/semester (with instructor recommendation)
  • Use of Student Success Center/tutoring services –2 points/visit
  • Attending cultural, student activity, or other on-campus events – 2+ points/event
  • On-campus employment – 2 points/semester (with supervisor recommendation)
  • Active involvement in registered student organizations, intramural sports, or athletic teams – 2+ points/semester (with advisor/coach recommendation)
  • Participation in Transfer Center events – 2+ points/event
  • Living on campus – 1 point/semester

Each year in the spring, five eligible students, drawn at random, participate in the Drive to Success Grand Finale which culminates with one of the five students winning the grand prize of a Ford Mustang.  The event is live streamed on social media and broadcast live on a local TV Station.
